nloaded s perspective on Boyd et al. (beginning on page 1398 in this issue of the journal) discusses recent hed research examining the interplay between social stress and breast cancer. Cross-disciplinary s using genetically defined mouse models and established neonatal and peripubertal paradigms ial stress are illuminating biological programming by diverse early-life experiences for the risk of cancer. Understanding the mechanisms underlying this programming can lead to the identification breast of risk factors and sensitive developmental windows, enabling improved prevention and treatment strategies for this devastating disease. متن کاملHistological Evaluation of Pancreas Following Early Life Stress in Exposure to Pubertal Stress in Male Rats
Background and purpose: Stressful events in early-life induce metabolic disorders in adolescence. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of early-life stress on number or area of Langerhans islets in exposure to foot-shock and psychological stress in male rats. Materials and methods: The rats were divided into six groups: control (without stress), early-stress (stress at 2 weeks o...
متن کاملPerinatal programming of neuroendocrine mechanisms connecting feeding behavior and stress
Feeding behavior is closely regulated by neuroendocrine mechanisms that can be influenced by stressful life events. However, the feeding response to stress varies among individuals with some increasing and others decreasing food intake after stress. In addition to the impact of acute lifestyle and genetic backgrounds, the early life environment can have a life-long influence on neuroendocrine m...
متن کاملMental Health and Quality of Life of Breast Cancer Patients During the COVID-19 Pandemic
COVID-19 first broke out on December 17, 2019, in Wuhan, China, and was declared a worldwide pandemic on March 11, 2020, according to the World Health Organization. Studies have shown that the incidence and mortality rate of COVID-19 is affected by age and specific diseases. Breast cancer patients may be more vulnerable to COVID-19 because of having a weakened immune system. In addition, COVI...
متن کاملIllness perceptions and emotional well-being in men treated for localized prostate cancer.
OBJECTIVE Emotional adjustment to cancer survivorship may be influenced by how patients interpret treatment side effects and other cancer-related experiences. The current study examined cognitive representations of illness, as conceptualized by the Self-Regulatory Model (SRM), in men treated for localized prostate cancer (PC). More severe PC perceptions were hypothesized to predict poorer emoti...
